This 2 CD set is the result of a conversation between the singer and music lover Colin Olsen in August 2019. Colin made his home music room available and recorded the songs using twin vocal channels and one guitar channel. He did the post-recording engineering. He also provided the fine guitar backings for the songs. The collection is a mixture of traditional and more modern songs from many countries. Several sea songs and Australian and New Zealand ones are included. Although he is primarily a ‘folk singer’ John has always had a liking for ‘old time U S Country’ which has led to his now singing at the Gisborne Country Music club as well as at TRAAMPS which has been his normal Gisborne venue for the last 10 years. John was a founder member of the Devonport Folk Music club in 1966 and sang there from 1996 – 1979. He supported and sang at the Titirangi Folk Music club from 1966 – 2003. He attended most Auckland Folk Music festivals from 1974 - 2003 and sang regularly in the blackboard concerts there. It is hoped you will find this pleasant listening and, perhaps, hear some ‘new’ material. John Newsham April 2020.
